Ammara Hashmi graduated from Government College University in B.Sc (Hons) in Psychology with distinction. Ammara is currently employed at Willing Ways, where her areas of interest are Counseling, Research and Heading of the Daily News segment.
Ammara has an experience of working as a teacher and individual coordinator of children suffering from disorders like Autism, Downs’ syndrome, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation etc. She previously worked as a healthcare executive at a pharmaceutical company where she conducted various researches on psychiatric medicines.
Acknowledging the significance of theatre as a therapeutic intervention, she joined the GCU dramatic society and actively participated in various theatrical workshops and festivals. As recognition of her contributions to the Dramatic Society she was awarded a certificate of distinction in Drama. Ammara was also a member of the GCU basketball team and represented her university in various inter-college tournaments. As a vibrant and multifaceted personality, she involved herself in as many co-curricular activities as possible.
Ammara is very committed to her profession as she believes in the contributions of psychology in improving the quality of people’s lives. Due to misconceptions and the mindset of people towards the field of psychology, it has shown relatively slower progress in Pakistan. Ammara stresses on the need for cumulative efforts to change this unfortunate scenario and wants to help transform the lives of people battling with psychological issues, especially children, so that they can have a better future.
