The brain is a machine which is made up of many parts which works together like a team. Different parts of the brain are assigned for synchronizing and executing specific functions. Drugs usually mess with this delicate system and can alter significant brain areas that are essential for life-sustaining functions and can oblige the obsessive drug abuse that directs to addiction.

Drugs are chemicals that affect the brain by hacking into its message system and hinder with the way neurons usually process information. Some drugs, such as marijuana and heroin have the same chemical structure that of a natural neurotransmitter so they have the ability mimic that neurotransmitter and generate neurons. Even though these drugs imitate the brain’s own chemicals, they don’t produce neurons in the same way as a natural neurotransmitter, which is the source of abnormal messages being transferred through the network. Drugs crash things like inhibitory control. And our skill to evaluate risks and consequences of certain behaviors is persistently affected by drug abuse.
